John Lowrie Quartet featuring Paul Towndrow

Sunday 29th March

Paul Towndrow is one of Scotland’s most in demand saxophone players. A finalist of the World Saxophone Competition in 2003 and 2004 at the Montruex and London Jazz Festivals respectively, he has toured extensively with his own qaurtet and more recently with his sextet which featured on the album ‘Six By Six’, released to wide acclaim. Also a member of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, he has recently toured with Sharlene Sptieri (of ‘Texas’ fame) and Hue and Cry. Here he joins a Dumfries bred Drummer with a bright future; John Lowrie.

Seventeen year-old John was recently accepted as one of the very first students on the RSAMD’s Jazz degree course, led by Tommy Smith and has been wowing audiences as part of the Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra.
