Having also graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in the summer, John is making huge waves on the national scene. Winner of the Dave Holland Ensemble Award, John Mayer Memorial Prize for composition, the Peter Whittingham Award, and the Yamaha-Classic FM Scholarship for Outstanding Jazz Musicians, John recently released his debut record ‘Insomnia’ on Clark Tracey’s ‘TenToTen’ records. He is currently enlivening audiences with his energetic compositions at some of the country’s most esteemed festivals and venues including Cheltenham Jazz Festival, The Pizza Express, The 606 and The Vortex in London. The band features an all star cast drawn from the Birmingham, London and Copenhagen scenes: Tom Challenger, saxophone; Tom Farmer, bass; Dan Nicholls, keyboard; Simon King, Guitar.
